The Mean Aunt

On Saturday I brought Miss S over to my brother and sister in law’s house where my mom was watching their four year old and 17 month old. We decided to take the three girls to the park, with the little ones in the wagon and Leah riding her big wheel. I started getting stressed over the thought that my mom and I were outnumbered with three kids. I was especially paranoid about Leah riding ahead into the street. Even though my mom insisted that she knew to stop and wait at each corner (and she did) I couldn’t stop the agitation. It got worse at the park when both Miss S and Little Ava tried to scale the double slide at the same time while I was watching them. I just couldn’t handle two kids to myself while my mom was across the park with Leah.

It was barely 15 minutes in and I couldn’t handle it anymore. I told my mom “let’s go!”. Her being the calm one (and also a elementary teacher and the best grandma ever) tried mellowing me out so that the kids could play longer. It didn’t work. I was stressed. Stressed that one kid might fall off the slide while the other darted towards the street. At one point I even yelled at my niece Leah for screaming to get our attention. “Leah, stop screaming, you are FOUR!” Nice aunt I am.
I know I am confident while with Miss S, but the prospect of watching one more or two more, makes me sweat. I don’t know why I got so ridden with anxiety. Can’t figure it out. All I know is that I am sure my niece Leah reported back to her parents that I am the mean one.

By the time we got back to the house I needed a cocktail. But it was only 4.

Moments of Bliss

This was my weekend. And it was blissful.

A Storm is a Brewin'

Hubbs is away tonight. My mom is coming over for a slumber party. Probably get our shop on (what we do best), purchase clothes for spring and then have to wait another month at least before I get to show them off due to a long winter. Oh yeah, and we miiiiigggghhhtttt even mix in some Fresh Choice. Because, no place pops off more than Fresh Choice on a Friday night. Kids eat free, and boy are they eatin....for free.

And it's stormin' outside. My boots are getting some serious wear this season. And I wore my hair curly twice this week just how Linz did last week. Curly hair seems to hold up better during moments of torrential downpours.

What's Happenin' Hot Stuff

So when I go out of town, it usually takes me a long time to get caught back up when I return. I fell behind in my housework, grocery shopping, blog reading, and laundry and of course work. So although we have been back for over a week now, I just now am getting my bearings.

While I have been getting back on track…

1) Lucy has manifested chronic gas. We ran out of her fancy dog food one night and had to get her some Iams. So she has been gassing the house up. It has been so stinky I swear I am waking up at night because of it.
2) I received two new pairs of heels for work. I swear I went through a two year stretch where I didn’t buy any new work shoes. Needless to say this latest purchase was a score and both are cute.
3) I started reading Nanny Returns. It’s okay. Simple reading. Just like the first one.
4) Watched Inglorious Busterds and hated it.
5) My daughter refuses to eat chicken. No matter if I fry it, dice it, sauté it, drench it in cheese , she tastes it and spits it out quicker than I can sneeze. I am a poet!
6) I actually went on a three mile walk when we got a weekend of spring time weather. It was the most I have exercised in a long time. Well, if you don’t count chasing around a toddler which has kept my metabolism in check.
7) I have learned that CSI:Miami airs in Spanish right before I go to sleep. I was flipping the channels last night before dozing off and landed on the show thinking it was the real thing only to learn that it was in Spanish. I couldn’t stop laughing.
8) Brushing Miss S’s teeth has become a complete struggle. How do I get to brush them? She simply clamps her jaws together, turns her head the opposite way and grunts “no”! I need suggestions!

A Rekindled Love Affair

When I was 24 I began a love affair. For the last (almost four years!) this affair as been off an on. But the passion has always been present. There has been the typical lust, excitement, newness, change, disagreements and obsession through the course of the relationship. Unlike many fleeting affairs, this affair has stood the test of time. And the Hubbs is okay with it.

It started back when I was naïve at 24. I was taken advantage of by the smell, the emotion, the freeness that is…. New York. Yup. My affair is with a city, not a man.

This past weekend, I introduced my hubby to my secret. He finally understood what I have been feeling these past four years. He got why certain songs make may bring me to tears: “New York, New York”, “Empire State of Mind”, and “Glamorous”. He recognized why I must watch movies such as “Ghostbusters”, “When Harry Met Sally”, “BIG” and “Home Alone 2” over and over again.

He gets it. For when I am New York I experience utter awe. I love the energy on the streets, how life is so much different than where I live. There are so many options on things to do and places to see. However, I run into some guilt (as with most affairs) over the money I spend shopping, or sometimes I feel guilty over the things I was not able to get to in time. Business brought me back to my Secret Lover on Saturday. It just so happened that business brought the Hubbs there too so we made it a mini-vacation. Miss S stayed with my parents and we were off. The weather was clear and freezing with an intense windchill. I made the mistake of not having a hat the first night as we wandered around Times Square. The next day I spend too much money at the street vendors for ear muffs, gloves and school boy sweater hats. But they so made the difference.

It was great to be reacquainted with my lover again. We picked up right where we left off and I am already planning our next meet up.

Anyone else have secret obsessions?

Doing it all....

What a week this week is. Did that even make sense? I am taking a quick second to relax, down a cup full of Lemon Lime Airborne, maybe download some iTunes and then call it a night. The cycle of sick continues to spiral around and around. Just when our house was free of the stomach flu, little Miss S got a nasty cough which has morphed into the snotty-humidifier on every minute- conjested-cranky cold of the year. I in turn seem to be getting it, however, I continue to battle it out with a crap load of vitamins.

On top of the nasty cold, work has been so hectic. After Miss S is snuggled in for the night I am working. I can't even find time to go pee. Thats how crazed I have been. I am surprised I actually remembered to brush my teeth this morning.

Aight, I'm done rambling. A couple things that bring me comfort when I get sick:

- I love, love, love the Old Fashioned glazed donuts at Starbucks. Seriously, they are pure bliss in my mouth and instantly make me feel better.
-Listening to "We Are the World". How awesome was that song? I mean, Dionne Warwick, Steve Perry, Cyndi Lauper, ? Come on. It doesn't get any better than that. By the way. I love anything '80's.
-Christmas socks.
-Green tea. Bigelow makes a Jasmine Green Tea. It is so light and exotic tasting.
-Snuggles with my girl and kisses and giggles
-How I Met Your Mother

Me Linky

I got this little number last weekend. It is so light weight and perfect for Spring. And it's cute and cheap.

These were in my stocking at Christmas. Let me tell you, my have hands have been transformed. They have come from looking like I was out plowing fields all day, to dainty little smooth hands. My goal is to get my hands hang nail free by next weekend so I can finally get a manicure. And maybe have them look like this. I know, that might be wishful thinking.

I also just ordered this for Miss S in bright pink. It just arrived and it is freaking adorable. She loves to read her books in it.

Aight peeps. I am done. You couldn't get much out of me this week.

Sugar

Some days are just so hectic. Today was one of them. I spent most of my day driving around to various meetings. All the while, it was dumping buckets of rain. At one point I hydroplaned which made my heart skip a beat and I think at the same time I sprouted my first gray hair. Ugh. So when I finally was able to settle back at my desk, the first thing I thought of to mellow out the stress of the day was look at this. Sometimes a little sugar is all I need to unwind.

The Diary of an Escape Artist

My formal name is Patty, as in Peppermint Patty. However, through the past years I have adopted many other names thus am rarely called my formal name unless company is over. My parents (Missy Marshmallow and Hubbs) usually call me “Pussy Pickles” (like Pussy Cat) or “Kitty” but mostly just “Puss” (pronounced puuh-us).

I have recently mastered the art of escaping unnoticed for a period of time in the evening hours after that toddler has gone to bed and while my parents are cleaning the kitchen, watching their TIVO’d shows or checking their Facebook pages. The door into the garage floats open if it is not shut properly, a perfect way for me to get the heck out of dodge. Since I am an indoor feline, all I do all day is sleep or wish I was outside frolicking with other felines.
In the past week I have sneaked out about three times, and each time I was soon discovered in the backyard like a pathetic rodent not knowing where to go. As soon as they open the back door I go running back in because, hey, that’s all I know!

Though last night, I grew some balls and decided to venture a bit further. I heard my parents calling my name for a half hour. I heard them circle the block on foot and in their car with their windows down, shining their brights on houses, trying to see if their precious kitty had flipped them the bird once and for all. My mom was quite worried I could tell. I could hear her yell at the Hubbs to find a better flashlight instead of the mini-SOLAR powered Mag-Lite rip off from the Dollar Store.

I made it into the backyard behind our house when some monster sized cat looking for a good time approached me. It was at that time that my mom heard this scuffling behind the house that she located my wherabouts, hollered for Hubbs and began to climb the massive oak tree to hurdle the fence.

It was at this point I wanted to get back home. The monster cat scurried off into the bushes. I tried to climb the fence back over but my lack of outside skills kept me grounded. It started to rain. Hubbs and Missy S barked at eachother about who was going to go into the neighbor’s backyard to retrieve me and risk getting shot by the home owners. Finally, they figured things out and Hubbs came and got me, handed me to my mom who carried me back into the house. I was a drowned rat. But, I had a blast. After a quick drink of water, I curled up on top of my mom’s new pea coat and snuggled there the rest of the night. Suckers.

Defining Moments

We have AppleTV. With it, you can see all of your pictures you have saved on your computer display in a slideshow right on your TV. Last night, while waiting for Hubbs to get off the phone so we could watch How I Met Your Mother, I sat watching all of the pictures pass by in no order at all. It was just so amazing to me to watch so many different moments of my life. It got me thinking to certain moments in my life that define who I am today. Here are some of my favorites:
-The way I felt on the first date with my now-Hubbs, full of butterflies and innocence
-A hit and run accident that left me with 40 stitches on my forehead and years of rigorous therapy
-Getting into the highly competitive college I hoped for
-Graduating in FOUR years! Unheard of nowadays.
-Getting engaged to my now Hubbs
-Walking into our first house the night after moving in, inhaling the smell of fresh paint and new carpet.
-Getting hammered at my Bachelorette wine tasting party and barfing all over the limo in front of family and friends.
-Marrying Hubbs
-My three grandparents passing away within three months. When they left, it felt like a piece of my childhood left with them.
-My small procedure which indicated I had endometriosis
-The positive sign
-Four family members being killed in a horrible accident while I was four months pregnant. I think I matured beyond my years the day that happened.
-The birth of Miss S
-Learning to be a mommy.
-Becoming a tight unit of a family. The best defining moment ever.

A Little Gas

Since the stomach flu dominated our house this past weekend, I still am not quiet back to normal in the digestive tract. So today, I had to make a quick talk to a room full of sales executives in my company and while I was waiting around to go on I realized I was getting all gassy from my freaking coffee. My stomach apparently was not agreeing with it and wanted to get all crazy on me. It was so hard for me to keep it in. I literally thought I was going to make it to the front of the room, go to give my presentation and rip a fat fart in front of all of them. I was even thinking about witty things to say if something so mortifying actually did happen. I shifted and moved around in my seat and eventually that feeling passed (not literally) and I was ready to give my talk without blowing everyone out of the room. Can you imagine? I guess at least it would be guaranteed that they would remember my presentation!
I know.....gross. But my stomach has been on the fritz all week so I had to vent somewhere.

We Be Illin'

My swell weekend kicked off with a nice start when I got the stomach flu on Friday. Followed by Miss S, again, my mom who was staying with us while hubbs was away and then lastly, hubbs when he returned Friday evening. Let me just say, there were a lot of loads of laundry, bowls of soup consumed, glasses of water refilled and Baby Einstein movies watched.

I didn’t leave the house until yesterday night when I decided I should get some groceries that weren’t just of the liquid form. Despite feeling like ass all weekend long, I did get some serious snuggle time in with my girl. That is always nice.

I can’t believe I made it back to work today. That in itself is a miracle.

Barf Bonanza

Home with a sick little girl today. She woke up gagging and I brushed it off as some phlem in her throaght. I got her all dressed and loaded into the car and as soon as we pulled up to daycare she ralphed all over herself and the carseat. Good thing we have leather seats! Poor thing. I turned right around and headed home. I had three meetings to cancel. A little stressful, especially since Hubbs is gone on business. Now she is sleeping after ralphing some more at home. I have been able to catch up on some work, probably more than if I was stuck in meetings!

So hopefully she can keep something down. I might need to go get her some Pedialyte if she doesn't get better.

Hurricane Holiday

Hurricane Holiday 2009 swept through the house starting on 12/23 when I began frantically cramming all of my "to-dos" into a 48 hour window. Once all items were tackled (Christmas night), I looked around to see what the storm left in its wake:

Crumpled wrapping paper sat under the couch and just out of reach even with the help of the back scratcher, multiple hairballs the Swiffer missed swirled around by the air of the floor vents like tumbleweeds on the highway between Tucson and Phoenix, pine needles were scattered out further and further into the living room, there was a never ending supply of crumbs grazing the counter tops from the late night cookie munching Hubbs, a dried up poinsettia I neglected before I even brought it home begrudgingly as a favor from a party sat glaring at me on top of a cabinet, a sweater for Hubbs that already had a snag in it rested on top of the couch waiting to be tried on and lastly, a ripped apart Leap Frog drum box which had required a Swiss Army knife and Wustof scissors to break into in order to satisfy an excited toddler.

Despite the Category 4 Hurricane Holiday, we made it out safe. It was memorable, people. Now, I can get back to eating 1,800 calories a day, only wear my sunglasses at night and drinking just one glass of Chardonnay with dinner and not another while wrapping presents, and then another when fixing the lopsided star on the tree. My digestive tract is very thankful for this.
Now, a little bit of proof of the damage around these parts.

I like Cheese. Anything, with Cheese- I like.

A little Martha Stewart in Me.

If anyone is wondering how to get rid of an infestation of fruit flies, leave out an expensive bottle of Champagne overnight open and on the counter. You will wake up to find the fruit fly possie drowned inside..... Who knew there were more uses for Champagne than just drinking it.

Hurry Up Day....

Been up since 7 going non-stop. Prepping two lasagnes, making spinach dip, baking cookies, etc. All the while, the Hubbs is "Sick" i.e. has a cold and little Miss S has been ultra cranky. I have been non-stop getting ready for the in-laws tonight. Things we (I) still need to do:

1) Set table
2) Get drinks chilled and organized
3) Get appetizers ready
4) Vacuum
5) Clean kitchen
5) Sweep/swiffer
6) Take shower
7) Fold Laundry
8) Manage to veg on the couch for 5 minutes before I put on my best "hostess with the mostess" attitude.

I love Christmas, but hosting really makes things stressful. Good thing we will be at my parents house tomorrow. I couldn't entertain again. I think I am too much of a rookie, or something. At least my presents are all wrapped, darnit.

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve and I hope Santa is good to everyone.

Not Enough Minutes in the Day!

Why is the Christmas season so short? We try to cram in so many things in such a little time frame. It is crazy that we put so many things on ourselves. This year is stressful. At least two nights a week I am going out shopping. I made the mistake of window shopping first to see what I wanted to buy people thinking I would go back and buy the items whe the prices were lower. Now that plan is totally backfiring as I am only 50% done with my shopping and merely a week before Christmas. I don’t really know when I will be finished. Maybe this weekend? But then I will have to compete with all the other assholes like myself who procrastinated.

Last night I witnessed a teenager get busted for shop lifting as he tried to exit Macys. At first I was all “yeah, get that punk!”, then I got all soft and figured he was shoplifting to give it as a gift since times are tough and maybe he didn’t have the money but really wanted his younger brother to have that perfect present. Probably not, but now that I am a mom at times I get soft over things that I wouldn’t normally be. Or there are times that I get way pissed over something whereas before it wouldn’t bother me. Like people opening the door for you. It is amazing to me when people don’t open a door for you when you are pushing a stroller and trying to maneuver you and an odd shaped stroller in as well. Just mind boggling.

I haven’t done any baking or watched a Christmas movie from beginning to end. I have participated in heavy amounts of eating, with all kinds of belly aches to go along with them. I have been able to frequent a couple holiday parties. But you can only go to so many of those before being burned out.

This weekend all I want to do is keep it low key, go see Christmas lights, watch some movies and maybe make a batch of cookies.

Oh, and none of my presents are wrapped. And the best thing so far this season is that our stupid cat has decided our new expensive area rug is her new clawing area. I have sprayed this vinegar/lemon juice smelling stuff all over it and she doesn’t care. Hubbs is threatening to give her away (he won’t, but he still kidds). It’s stressing me out. Does anyone have solutions for getting a cat to stop scratching something it shouldn’t?

But hey, our Christmas tree still looks darn good!
Ahhh…the holidays.

The 12 Days of Christmas

If I was forced to sing (I don’t sing, I lip sync, no one wants to hear this voice) “The 12 Days of Christmas” I would re-write the lyrics to sing about what I really want (or just some of my favorite things) and not what some Yahoo wanted back in 1823. Here goes…la la la la!

On the first day of Christmas My True love brings to me- one black leather Kate Spade purse

On the second day of Christmas my true love brings to me- two hours of napping uninterrupted (no dogs barking, phone ringing, doorbell, etc.)

On the third day of Christmas my true love brings to me- The Ted Kenndy memoir, True Compass (hey, it’s MY version of the song).

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love brings to me- A scarf, in CASHMERE!

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love brings to me- 5 Diamond Rings!!!! Okay, this simple yet gorgeous necklace would do.
On the sixth day of Christmas my true love brings to me- A box of Nehaus Chocolates. These are way too fancy, not your grandma’s Russell Stover. I had a box of these on my night table when I was a VIP-wannabe at the Bryant Park Hotel a couple of years back. Let me tell you, I savored every last one, morsel by morsel.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love brings to me- This awesome pea coat. Because I LOVE a great coat and my current black coat has seen better days.

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love brings to me- A beautiful bouquet like this! Who wouldn’t want to stare at this instead of a computer screen all day? Does anyone watch 30 Rock and notice Jack’s awesome flowers on his desk every week?
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love brings to me- A deep tissue massage to work out all those kinks from my everyday stress of being, well, me.

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love brings to me- This Paula Deen cookbook, who doesn’t like eating comfort food every day?
Are we out of days yet?

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love brings to me- This eye cream to erase those premature under eye lines I have recently noticed in some of my fucking pictures! It must have been the lighting…

On the twelfth day of Christmas by true love brings to me- These cozy thermal pj’s to snuggle up in under my Slanket while I watch Christmas Vacation on repeat.

Sing along now!

P.S. I don't own a Slanket or a Snuggie. That was a joke. What is the point of those things when you can just wear your robe backwards to have the same effect?

The Time of My Life

We have just entered a new phase with Sonya. Now that she is walking I feel like I have a little sidekick. We are a little duo the two of us. She follows me around. I look for her, she looks for me. It really clicked for me the other day when I was getting ready in the morning. Hubbs was “watching” her in the office and she walked right into our bedroom and was watching me getting ready. I turned around to get something and there she was! I love the sound of her feet as they go pitter patter through the house. Hide n’ seek has never been more fun for me. I am realizing how much fun this age is. She keeps me on my feet, always getting into things, constantly exploring what is in that cabinet or around that bend. But then, she will come to a rest and lay her head on us to rest for a second. I never thought she would ever get to be a cuddler. And now, with the flip of a switch, she snuggles. And I love it.

‘Tis the Season For…

-Tights and Boots
-An extra cup of coffee to get you through the day
-Taking Airborne every morning and night
-Scarfs, plaid, solid, striped, polka dots- if it’s a scarf, I want it on my neck! Preferably cashmere.
-Headbands to hide the front of head frizz due to freezing and moist morning fog
-Warming up the car for 20 minutes
-Extra hand lotion for my poor, neglected hands*
-Soup and anything having to do with a Crockpot
-Overloading on goodies that coworkers bring in from home
-$200+/month electricity bills
-Wet paws running across the floor
-Dumb ass drivers cutting in front of you to get their coffee at Starbucks
-Bing, Wham, U2, Frank, Mariah and so many others singing the classics all day and everyday
-Wearing plaid and getting away with it.

*My hands are in poor condition. I would like to chalk it up to years of hard work in the fields, but really I just didn’t take care of them until now. My hands probably look 10 years older than I am. That being said I am currently using Aveeno Intensive Hand Therapy but would like to know if anyone has some recommendations on others. I have used a number of others and I still haven’t found “the one” to not only give me intense moisture but also help make them look younger.

Scrooge McDuck

After four and half days of eating, shopping, wine swirling and slurping and chasing after my wobbly almost 13 month old, this sister is back in the work seat.

WORK. Such a bad word this time of year. Since it is now the Christmas season all I plan on doing is eat, shop, bake some treats, eat some cheeseball, drink sweet red drinks that taste like pomegranate and go down way too quickly, watch holiday movies, admire the Christmas tree and maybe read a book or two. As you can see with all of these things I am planning, work really does not fit in to that mix. I think business should just shut down for the month of December. Well, businesses that are not retailers, of course. But, the reality is that I will be working. Thankfully I will be taking off time around the holidays to participate in many of the activities mentioned above.

This week I am hoping I can cleverly maneuver my husband out of the house to get a Christmas tree. I might have to bribe him with sugar cookies (always his weakness) or that I will scrape the ice of his windshield one of these mornings. I am leaning towards the sugar cookies. Outdoor stuff is for men. Each year, getting a tree is like pulling teeth. I did not marry a Mr. Clause that is for sure More like Scrooge (Mickey's Christmas Carol version). So I make up for his boringness by my crap load of Christmas spirit (a la Bob Cratchit) and constant egg nog buzz. I don’t know why he doesn’t like getting the tree so much. Maybe it could be that I always have have him retrieve the cat from climbing up the trunk every morning or that he steps his foot into a broken ornament everyday due to mentioned cat taking them off the branches or that this same outlaw cat somehow spills the tree water onto the skirt all the freaking time. Nope, I can’t think of why he doesn’t like getting the tree. Or maybe that he was raised in a Jewish family has something to do with it? Hmm……

Full of Thanks

It's post Thanksgiving. The turkey coma has worn off, I have caught up on some zzz's and that slight Prosseco buzz is fading. But it is still the holiday weekend, thus not too late for my reasons that I am thankful this year.
-My little unit of Miss S and Hubbs. We are doing mighty fine if you ask me. If there were Four Legged Races, we would win! Hubbs and I are a total team and I wouldn't have it any other way. Our Miss S is the apple of our eye. We are such proud parents, its insane.
-My mom. Because she's my best friend (after Hubbs). She gives it to me straight, is always there for me when I am happy or sad and is the worlds greatest grandma to Miss S. Seriously, without her, I would be one lost mom.
-The rest of my family. They are all great too.
-My dog and cat. Because they give us just enough grief (late night puke fests, endless gas, expensive vet bills) to keep things interesting around this joint.
-Our house, it's cozy and I like it.
-My CHI flat iron. It takes me from cowlick crazy lady to smooth operator in 10 minutes flat.
-My job. Seriously, it might give me a headache a lot, majority of the time I enjoy it and the people in it.
-Mad Men. Before I met Don Draper and Roger Sterling, I was a lifeless wallflower and roses did not smell right. Now I am a changed woman. The life of the party, am known to toss back scotch on the rocks whenever I shall please, have great fashion sense and a knack for one-liners (Okay, not all of those things are true).
Aight fools, off to sit my ass on the couch and eat some chips.

Things I Never Realized I Can Do Onehanded….

…While carrying a 25 lb. 1 year old

1) Empty the dishwasher
2) Feed the dog
3) Feed the cat
4) Make my bed
5) Cook dinner
6) Eat dinner
7) Make a pot of coffee
8) Make cup of coffee
9) Put my jacket on
10) Put my shoes on
11) Type an e-mail
12) Look for the cat under the bed
13) Bring cat in from outside after she escapes
14) Open a bottle of wine
15) Start a load of laundry
16) Bring in groceries from the car

Really, I don’t hold her THAT much, but of course there are just times where you have to multi task. She would rather be walking instead of be held (most the time). She actually has become quite the cuddler these days. Which I am ELATED about, I might add.

Last weekend Miss S starting patting her ear. I shrugged it off as more freaking teeth coming in (there are) since for the most part she was in an okay mood. On Monday morning she was super fussy with no fever and the same with that night. Tuesday morning, fussy again but over the top fussy with no fever. I took her to daycare and drove to work with a feeling in my gut that she had an ear infection, despite her lack of fever. Got her in that evening with the doctor. She had a 102 temp and ear infection. She has been on some antibiotics and keeping her on the Tylenol when needed and she is getting better very slowly. Of course this all went down while Hubbs’ was away on a short business trip. Last week was stressful, to say the least.

Skin Spends

I recently decided to invest more of my money into my skincare. I have always had pretty normal skin. Oily and slightly pimply in the teenage years, and in the twenties less oily and more dry. My skincare regimen will typically consist of just a cleanser and moisturizer with a moisturizer & sunblock for the day. I have been wearing sunblock on my face since I was probably 18 or so. I am fair skinned, have had my share of sunburns when I was stupid and in high school, but realized when I was early on in college that no matter how hard I tried, I would always be the fair one and not the bronzed and tan girl I wanted to look like. Then it felt unfair that I was so white. Now I actually like it. I know that those with the tan skin now, will be showing those first signs of aging much earlier than me. Back to my skin care regimen. I realized that I have been wasting money on drugstore products that don’t leave my face much different. I’ve used the Neutrogena Antioxidant products, Olay of Olay Regenerist, Aveeno and more Neutrogena. The cleansers are typically lackluster and the moisterizers never really feel like they are totally moisturizing my face. So I decided to invest in some Philosophy and purchased the “Make Up Optional Kit” for dry, sensitive skin. I have used this line before and I think I liked it but didn’t buy it again once I ran out because I probably bought a purse instead. I am realizing that I don’t want to be one of those Botox junkies in my forties, so am hereby taking my skincare more seriously. The fact that I have been using sunblock for so long is super critical, but I think having nicer products will be better in the long run.

I am also now committing to drinking more water everyday, with my aluminum water bottle. Also I am devoting to drink at least one cup of green tea a day. I am back to taking my multi-vitamins at night. It feels great to be focusing on this again, and I haven’t even received my new products yet!

Birthday Bash

Okay, so a bit out of order. Still crafting my summary/letter for the past year. Here are some pictures of the festivities of Miss S's birthday party this past Saturday.

P.S. Not sure why these pictures are looking so goofy.

Loogy Nation

I have been sick for about two weeks. Just an annoying and pesky cold. I thought it was over with about 5 days in, and then it reared its ugly head AGAIN and I can’t seem to shake this dark junk in my nose, throat and lungs. My eyes are itchy and I don’t know how to hock up loogies. I’m gross. What can I say, it's a loogy nation at home.

Sonya still has a crackly cough, had a bout of horrendous diaper rash which I think was sparked by spaghetti I gave her. Maybe too much acidity? I used Bordeaux Butt Paste, didn’t work. Desitin burned her tooshy too much (poor thing) and Aveeno cream was just too gentle. My mom finally dropped off some Rosebud Salve which seems to be working. An oldie but goodie!

I recently discovered an awesome toy store in our town. It has the coolest things. I went in yesterday on my lunch and wanted to buy everything but had to contain myself since Miss S’s birthday is this weekend! That is a whole other post.

It has been hard for me to blog at work lately due to my new flat screen monitor which easily displays Blogger when I in it. So what I just started was writing my posts in Word and then dropping them right into Blogger to cut down on the time I am in it. I know, so sneaky folks. Who am I fooling? And blogging at night after Miss S is in bed is just not realistic lately. I have been running errands at the night hours or working on unpacking or just sitting my ass on the couch to sip on some Carmenere.

Aight fools. I need to post pics from Halloween. I will do that before this weekend because I have a monster of a post coming up in just three days... In THREE DAYS I will be posting her 1st Birthday Post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
